To Whomever Cancelled the Links

For some strange reason, someone seems to think that deleting links is an effective way to prevent the sharing of music. There are still many good links, at the moment.

I have news for everyone. It is very easy and not time-consuming to share music. This is why tens of thousands of people do it daily--from eDonkey to bittorrent to soulseek to newsgroups.
And yes, there are a few hundred bloggers out there.

How easy is it for me to share music? Well, this simple:

One right click.
One left click.
Type 13 characters.
One left click.
One left click.
One left click.
One left click.

In fact, I would almost guarantee that whoever deleted the links spent more time in front of their computer to delete the files than I did while uploading them (the best part of uploading--you can do it unattended).

Link deletions will not keep me from running this blog. I continue to share via Rapidshare. If I can find people willing to seed torrents for around 1 week (something I cannot do, but many other people would desire), I will upload this material via Bittorrent as well.

And an individual message to the link-deleter: Look (wo)man, someone deleted a few gigs of my uploads before. There was not even a gigabyte on this site.
Someone beat you to it, and did a much more effective job than you did. So why don't you move on and try to suck the tit of misery elsewhere, because you will only find the intergalactic sounds of Sun Ra here...

Hi,
I really enjoy the cool stuff u share.
Link deleting is a problem for all of us. AFAIK only the uploader or rapidshare people can delete links because of complaints received.
So the best thing to do is to use an above suspicion name and to protect archive content with a password, but hiding archive's content too, so rapidshare people cannot sniff our stuff anymore.
Regards and please go on.
Thanks

When I mentioned I had gigabytes of uploads deleted, very notable among those were a wide variety of copyright free music provided by Karadar.com. People delete links because they want to feed off the misery of others.

Unfortunately, anyone can report links.

I appreciate your comments, and I'm glad you enjoy the site. Hope you keep coming back.

I am very well versed with this link deleting problem. Its been going on for months thanks to some Dutchman called Hans.

Two pieces of important advice.

1 - Ditch Rapidshare if possible. It is always Rapidshare links getting wiped out. Try Badongo, Sendspace or something else. Rapidshare do NOT give a toss about anyones uploads. A mate of mine did a test on them, uploading a page from the Bible and then reporting it. Rapidshare even deleted it because they don't care at all.

2 - Do not, I repeat NOT feature the name of the album in the upload file. Make the filename anonymous. Rapidshare have automatic filters that delete recognisable names. Make the name anonymous like a code of numbers, letters and symbols. This will make it impossible for the automatic filters to wipe your uploads.

I have been part of blogging for ages and so am just passing on a couple of valuable tips which I hope will help.

All The Best and keep up the brilliant work here.

I'm sorry. I cannot entertain the notion of one man being responsible for a rash of link deletions. Hans the Dutchman will eventually get bored, but there are a dozen more Hans the Dutchman's who just found out about so-and-so's blog. I know that certain people harass others, but I doubt that if someone else's Hans the Dutchman is my Hans the Dutchman...

every single site will delete things if there is a complaint. this is not limited to rapidshare. it is unfortunate. but, it is obviously the best way for all sites to avoid lawsuits.

every other uploading service is very unreliable. i can actually upload faster to badongo, but my files fail to upload around 1/2 the time. i am not going to ditch rapidshare. i would like to also find someone willing to torrent these, as i cannot. looking for volunteers...

furthermore, it does not matter how i name my files. trust me. i have been naming them like this for over a year now. the only time things get deleted is when someone reports them. if i named my files randomly, it would be MUCH harder to figure out what was deleted and what needs to be reuploaded when things do get deleted.

I have had plenty of albums in the public domain deleted--both from the other minds archive and karadar.com. the reason these things are deleted is because someone reports them. This is the work of one individual who was somewhat bored.

Hi Marxbert

Thanks for your reply in which you made many valid points. Indeed there will be various deleters about doing their crappy deeds. I guess Im a bit paranoid seeing the amount of blogs that have been wiped out in the past few months.

I am pleased to see you are continuing as you have done. It is true that other file hosters all have their faults and that for sheer speed and convenience RS is by and far the best.

I would most certainly be very happy to help seed torrents for you. I have a good connection speed and usually have my PC on 24/7 so can most certainly be a great help in that department, so if you'd like to take that option please let me know on the blog or here and I'll gladly join in since I'm a big Sun Ra freak so am only happy to help spread the music as far as it can possibly go.

All The Best,
Barry Henderson.

Maxbert,

Good job! You are a fine example of the best way to face this growing problem. Much like the case with Terrorists, for us to quit or weaken our resolve simply allows them to win.

I hope the problem does not get too overwhelming. Thanks for all your good work.

hi Marxbert

just wanted to say that you have been doing a wonderful job, doing what I would call an almost impossible work cataloguing the man's works. That's something I never had saw, someone so in love with Sun Ra's work and willing to share all this information and music. So I'd like to say you do something very important to a lot of people, all of us, Ra's fans. Keep up the excellent work and never mind the terrorists that jump on your way. They are just ignorant people and please never stop. Greetings from Brazil!

anonymous (barry)--
which torrent site would you like to use? or multiple sites?

how many albums could you seed at a time? I think perhaps splitting it up by decades may be most effective. but it all depends on what your harddrive can handle.

thank you very much for your offer and everyone's support.

Too bad this. The evil deleter should probably burn slowly in hell. Your blog is brilliant! Have you seen the sun Ra videos on youtube? I love the John Coney/Sun Ra - Space Is The Place(1974) excerpts.

i'm new to this blog, and obviously did not delete the links because that's two years ago.

I'd just like to say that one cannot delete links from rapidshare, etc, just to be a bastard - they can only do it if they show that they represent some business interest of the work being infringed.

they have EVERY RIGHT to have these links deleted. people on blogs talk about "sharing" in a rather self-righteous tone sometimes. the fact is, it's the music owner's right to decide when and where the music will be given away for free. because you own a copy of a CD does not mean you can duplicate it and distribute it at will.

if you have ever created anything - music, art, furniture, clothing, etc - you'll probably agree that a stranger should not be able to take your work and give it away to his or her friends.

The Auto Trader Guide

There's a lot of auto classifieds out there, though very few of them ever get as big or as popular as the UK-based Auto Trader. Auto Trader was originally a magazine for car trading, buying, and selling that was first published in the UK. However, in a few years, the magazine had already expanded into other territories and has separate editions for each of those countries. Also, it has maintained a significant presence online, consistently appearing as one of the top results on both Yahoo! and Google when auto classifieds are searched.

Like your usual auto classifieds, Auto Trader has comprehensive and updated listings on cars for sale and people looking for specific cars to buy. What it has that most others do not have are listings for car parts and accessories. Not many auto classifieds actually advertise parts, which is a sad thing. That gives this magazine and website an advantage when it comes to dealing with people who collect classic cars. Since parts for older cars like Cadillacs and Chevrolet Impalas are not as easy to come by as parts for more recent makes and models, the ads for various parts make the magazine an excellent online resource for those who need a replacement part that's rare and hard to find. The magazine makes it an almost ideal place for collectors to get the parts they need to keep their beloved machines in tip-top condition.

Apart from cars, Auto Trader has also expanded its borders to deal with other means of transportation. For example, most auto classifieds do not bother to list down larger vehicles like trucks and the few that do only do so sparsely. In contrast, the magazine, with their website, has an extensive section on trucks, ranging from trucks for sale to truck parts, and even some tips on how to pick the kind of truck that you need. Not only that, the site also has a separate set of search customization options designed specifically for sorting through different types of trucks rather than cars, giving that section a more dedicated feel. Furthermore, the availability of the section for trucks, farm vehicles, and motorcycles, gives a definite sense of these vehicles being considered equally important to the car sections, and not just as interesting afterthoughts.

When one considers it, such sections are not all that surprising. Auto Trader is just expanding to include all major forms of private ground transportation. However, when one takes a look at the section devoted to boats, it does create a tendency to raise eyebrows. One could argue that the website is expanding a little too much by taking in a spot in the boat trade but one can't argue with the fact that their coverage is extensive. It is clear that the website for boats was designed with as much consideration and care as their car-oriented sites.

Auto Trader has gone through a lot of changes since it first appeared but its core, the auto classifieds, has remained firm. Auto Trader remains one of the top car classifieds in the UK and they have not shown any signs of slowing down. In fact, it appears to most observers that they are intent on expanding further, in the hopes of eventually getting a piece of the market share in the US.

Take into account losing complete and crash insurance on old automobiles. These insurance policy alternatives reimburse you in the case of theft or injury to your car or truck however they are relatively high-priced, even if you have a superior deductible. In the event the substitute value of your car or truck is reduced, "comp and accidents" insurance coverage is usually not well worth the cost. T22wyuul
